No Man's Sky Gets Yet Another Update
Hello Games just can't help themselves - it's barely been a month since the massive No Man's Sky Voyagers update landed, but they're at it again. Today sees the release of a somewhat smaller Halloween-inspired update, Breach.
Voyagers introduced the space walk feature for the first time to No Man's Sky, and Breach takes it a step further. Players can now find and explore wrecked corvettes in the depth of space, and enjoy a zero-g space walk to explore and extract modules from them to place on their own corvettes. And there's plenty of new parts to find, with Hello Games boasting of a "significant number of new corvette modules" that can be salvaged from corvette wreckage and scrap heaps.
To go along with the new wreckage exploration mechanic, the new Breach Expedition draws players through new locations, including purple-star solar systems, home to planets featuring weird and wonderful geographic features and volatile gas giants. Players will make their way through this journey as they search for the Fireship Arcadia, a mysterious lost corvette.
Along with the new features and expedition, there's a few new quality of life fixes focused around the corvette construction mechanic. The headline additions include better snapping and collision handling in the editor, as well as the ability to apply a colour scheme to a whole corvette.
After a very rocky start to No Man's Sky's life back in August 2016, Hello Games and Sean Murray received a significant amount of criticism for the community (and probably justified, too). But since then, the team have worked tirelessly deliver on all of their initial promises for the game and more - with such new features including base building (Foundation, 2016), a new main story (Atlas Rises, 2017), multiplayer (NEXT, 2018 and further expanded in Beyond, 2019), mech suits (Exo Mech, 2020), settlements (Frontiers, 2021) , along with significant overhauls to procedural generation through the years. It's safe to say that the game has grown into a beast its critics couldn't have even imagined back in 2016 - and every time it looks as though Hello Games might be looking to wind down, they come back with another smashing new feature update.
The No Man's Sky Breach update and expedition are out now - with the expedition scheduled to last around three weeks. Are you having fun building corvettes in No Man's Sky? Show us your best builds over on Mastodon!
