Bits & Bobs - Gamescom Edition! 23rd August 2025
Bits & Bobs gives you bite sized updates from across the web that don't warrant their own full-sized story.
From Gamescom
Gamescom is in progress as we speak, and there's been a few interesting developments over the last few days.
This is just a selection of the bits of news seen at Gamescom. There's been plenty of other announcements and updates, and there'll be plenty more over the next few days.
Hollow Knight: Silksong has a Release Date - and it's Just Aound the Corner!
It's been over six years since Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced - and I'm sure there's more than a few fans out there that believed it was never coming out.
But that's changed at Gamescom - the game now has a release date - and it's only a few weeks away on 4th September 2025!
Microsoft Confirms Release Date for Asus ROG Xbox Ally X, but no Pricing
In a possible nod toward pricing and tariff instability in the US, Microsoft has announced that the ROG Xbox Ally X will release on 16th October 2025, but declined to provide any pricing details.
It seems like a foregone conclusion that regardless of the "macro-economic impacts" playing out, it's unlikely to be an affordable piece of tech, given previously leaked pricing.
Fallout Season 2 Trailer Drops
I loved the first season of Fallout, and it's looking as though Season 2, dropping 17th December 2025, is going to be just as an exciting experience if the trailer is to be believed.
Fallout: New Vegas is up there with my top games, so I'm excited to see what happens when Lucy and the Ghoul hit the strip!
Dawn of War IV Announced, Not Being Developed by Relic
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is coming next year, and promises to return to the larger scale roots of the original game.
In perhaps a nod to the lack of success the previous two entries have had, Relic Entertainment will not be developing the game - it's instead been handed off to King Art Games, who you might know from Iron Harvest.
Peertube Readying 7.3 Release
Peertube 7.3 should be dropping soon, offering mostly tweaks and new features on the admin side, including email translations, a web configuration wizard for new instances and a redesign of the admin config page.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Review Begin Landing, Looking Like a Cracker
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is out next week, and the review embargo has lifted. It's generally a sign that the devs and publishers believe in the work they've done if reviews are able to start to post more than a few days before the launch date.
And according to Metacritic, it's looking pretty decent. As of the time of writing, the game is sitting at an average review score of 86 based on 69 critic reviews.
