Bits & Bobs: 14th September 2025 - Nintendo Direct Edition

News Sep 14, 2025

Bits & Bobs gives you bite sized updates from across the web that don't warrant their own full-sized story.

Nintendo Direct Rolls Around Again

As happens from time to time, Nintendo had a Direct. They announced things - cool huh? This isn't a complete record of all the goings on - just what I thought was interesting.

Virtual Boy Games Coming to Switch Online

Nintendo has announced that 14 Virtual Boy games will be coming to Switch Online "over time", and there'll also be a peripheral released that players can insert their Switch or Switch 2 into to give them that Virtual Boy-style experience. Bit weird, but there you go!

Animal Crossing-meets-Pokemon Pokopia Lets Players Design an Island for Their Pokemon

In this gorgeous looking game, players take on the role of a Ditto that has, in turn, managed to take on the role of a (slightly imperfect) human who is charged with creating the perfect island for their pokemon friends. The gameplay loop and aesthetics very much remind me of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but with a slightly different viewpoint that reminds me a little of Minecraft.

Pokemon Pokopia will be out in 2026 for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 Coming to Switch 1 & 2

Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are getting the remastered treatment for both of Nintendo's current consoles, and it's less than a month away - launching with a physical release on 2nd October 2025.

There'll also be a couple of new Amiibo released in April next year to go with it.

...and a Movie?

And with some exquisite timing, the sequel to 2023's The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been confirmed as Galaxy! Among the returning cast are Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day and Jack Black.

The movie should also be releasing in April next year!

Mario Tennis Fever Announced

Even more Mario is coming players' ways, with a new instalment of the Mario Tennis series in the works. Featuring 38 playable characters and 30 "fever rackets", each with their own unique powers, Mario Tennis Fever is sure to bring the series' usual mix of tennis weirdness to the Switch 2.

The game will release on 12th February 2026 - not too far away!

Borderlands 4 Launches to Tepid Audience Response

Borderlands 4 has landed, and players don't seem to be too happy with it. Review scores on steam are currently sitting at a pretty concerning Mixed, with the majority of the bad feedback around the instability of the game, as well as poor performance for players even with high tier gaming hardware.
